What is Mentor HR® About?

The Mentor HR® program focuses on personal leadership development in an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Mentor HR® will use experiential learning to support you in applying the Pivotal Mentoring® method. This powerful process helps you to achieve personal breakthroughs by leveraging the collective genius of peers.

The Mentor HR® leadership team makes peer mentor “matches” based on experience level, career focus, development objectives, and personal preferences you indicate are important to you. Mentor HR® participants serve as co-mentors to each other, playing both mentor and mentee as the situation requires.

Participants are assigned a mentor liaison to advise on goals, help with learning assignments, and provide guidance throughout the Mentor HR® program experience. Mentor liaisons are invested in the learning and development of the cohort members to maximize individual and collective success.

How is this program different?

This virtual cohort program is designed for highly motivated HR professionals with 3 to 30 years of experience who want to invest time in their personal development. Mentor HR® leverages assessment tools, books, journal articles, and small group discussion to explore topics such as personal branding, conscious leadership, high-performance teams, as well as HR knowledge-based topics. Experienced HR executives provide insight into pressing issues and help brainstorm answers to the questions that keep you up at night. We learn from and encourage each other to achieve our goals.

What is the time commitment?

This 11-month cohort program begins in March and meets once a month. Participants should plan to commit a minimum of five hours a month to the program.

Who is eligible to apply?

Each fall an application process is open to all SHRM members in good standing. There is no cost to participate in the cohort program, however, you must confirm membership with NOVA SHRM, Dulles SHRM or Prince William SHRM after receiving notice of being selected.

What are Mentor HR® cohorts saying about the program?
