Board Members

    If you're not sure who to contact or for generic questions and information:

    In the fall of each year, we request nominations for our board positions. If you aren't able
    to commit to a board position, but would like to provide valuable assistance to the chapter,
    there are many opportunities to volunteer on committees.  Information regarding the
    nomination process as well as how to participate on a committee is available in our
    Volunteer section.

    Meg Riat, PHR, SHRM-CP

    General charge and supervision of the affairs and business of the chapter.


    Vonzell Mattocks

    Assists the President in overseeing activities and performs presidential responsibilities in the president’s absence.



    Caroline Kerr, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

    Maintains records of the chapter’s activities.


    Julie Detwiler, CPP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

    Responsible for the financial affairs of the chapter.


    Annual Summit  

    Valerie Meale


    Responsible for keeping the summit committee on track, selecting speaker topics, getting credit approval from SHRM/HRCI, finding event space, getting a budget approved by the board, updating the board regularly on progress, and assisting with sponsorship and communications.

    College Relations & Workforce Readiness


    Heidi Staab

    Manage college outreach efforts by fostering relationships with local universities. Monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis local activities concerning workforce readiness issues and plans.

    Communications & Marketing 


    Ashley McGlawn, SHRM-CP

    Oversee the chapter's communications activities while maintaining a consistent brand image. Ensure the chapter has a strong presence on various social media outlets.



    Kristal Parker, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

    Monitor and evaluate local community activities consistently.  Plan community events and manage chapter's outreach efforts.

    Government Affairs

    Brendan Cassidy, Esquire

    Monitors and evaluates pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level.



    Laurie Wieder, PPC


    Manages and cultivates chapter membership.




    Responsible for the chapter’s programming.


    Darlin Cox, PHR, SHRM-CP


    Seeks out and solicits companies to sponsor SHRM related events including monthly meetings, annual employment law summit and other special events.

    Susan Kendrick, PHR, SHRM-CP

    Strategize and implement the chapter’s technology programs including maintenance of chapter website.
